To the death of his beloved wife Khadijah (may God be pleased with her), who was his closest and strongest supporter, and that of his uncle Abu Talib, who was his protection against Quraish in Makkah, and in a year of ‘great sadness’ came God’s response to His beloved Prophet (peace be upon him).

The journey of Al-Israa’ and Al-Mi`raj was a miraculous experience that not only took the Prophet out of sadness, calamity, worldly trials and difficulties, brought him closer to his Lord, and honored him, but also brought treasure of blessings and lessons to us, all Muslims.

Glory to Allah Who did take His servant for a Journey by night from the Sacred Mosque to the farthest Mosque, whose precincts We did bless, in order that We might show him some of Our signs: for He is the One Who hears and sees (all things). (Al-Israa’ 17:1)

Here Shahul Hameed reflects on the journey; how it was a blessing from God to His prophet and salve, how it was a trial for the believers, and renewed enthusiasm and strength for Islam and the da`wah to way of Allah.
